Composed and helmed by esteemed playwright Conor McPherson and featuring world-class orchestrations by Simon Hale, Girl From the North Country redefines twenty iconic songs by the legend himself Bob Dylan in a fresh manner!
The realistic story of the musical emerges in a comfortable lodge in Minnesota in the difficult times of the Great Depression. It's a story that puts the spotlight on the lives of the characters staying there - guests and long-term residents alike. Everyone carries their own secrets and what makes this play unique is how it interlaces all these characters' lives.
The theatre performance will include everyone’s favorite hits including “Forever Young,” “Like A Rolling Stone” “All Along The Watchtower,” “Slow Train Coming,” and “Hurricane”
An interview with The Marlowe revolves around how director Conor McPherson had no experience with directing a musical prior to this venture and found himself revelling in the refreshing experience. He explains that when it comes to a straight show, the dilemma lies in entertaining everyone entirely through the lines and portrayal. However, in a musical, there are moments where someone might recommend, “Shall we have a refreshing pause for everyone's benefit?” and you'd willingly affirm, thinking it sounds quite appealing.
